PIKEVILLE, Ky. — A Pike County man has been arrested for allegedly stealing a catalytic converter from a vehicle in broad daylight.
Ryan Bishop, 32, of Pikeville, allegedly stole a catalytic converter from a Ford F-150 in the downtown Pikeville McDonald’s parking lot around 7 a.m.
Catalytic converters are part of a car’s exhaust system and are often a target of thieves because they are relatively easy to access and can get a good price because they are filled with valuable metals.
Bishop was arrested on a felony theft charge and now faces up to five years behind bars if convicted.
