FRANKFORT, Ky. — Kentucky State Police has won the annual Best Looking Cruiser contest sponsored by the American Association of State Troopers for two years in a row. This year, they’re looking for a three-peat, and they’re giving a salute to coal country in the effort.
This year’s entry is a 2022 Dodge Charger wrapped in the colors typical of cruisers in the 1970s. It is positioned next to a 1978 Ford cruiser, and both cars are parked at the Blue Diamond Coal Company Leatherwood Complex in Perry County.
“Kentucky is known internationally for its coal mining industry and the hard-working individuals who work in the mines,” said KSP Public Affairs Commander Paul Blanton. “Our team intertwined the beauty of Eastern Kentucky splashed with two iconic symbols in that area, coal mines and Kentucky State Police.”
Voting is going on now and runs through the end of the month. You can cast your vote by going to https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/bestlookingcruiser2023.
The top 13 cruisers will be featured in the group’s 2024 calendar, with number one being featured on the cover as well as the January car. Kentucky State Police has placed in the top three for the past four years and won the competition the past two.
