SALYERSVILLE, Ky. — A Magoffin County man accused of raping his stepdaughter has now been indicted by a grand jury.
Stuart Horton, 30, of the Left Fork of Johnson Creek, has now been charged with first-degree rape, first-degree sodomy and first-degree sexual abuse of a child under the age of 12.
Last month, Horton went to Kentucky State Police Post 9 in Pikeville to undergo a lie detector test as part of the investigation. Following the test, police say Horton immediately became apologetic and confessed to everything.
The girl was reportedly 8 or 9 years old when the abuse began.
If convicted, the rape and sodomy charges carry potential sentences of 10-to-20 years, while the sex abuse charge carries a sentence of 5-to-10 years.
Horton is currently being held in the Big Sandy Regional Detention Center, in Paintsville.
