
PAINTSVILLE, Ky. — A Johnson County woman has now been indicted after being arrested for drug trafficking last month.
Police went to a home on Pine Street July 29 in search of a man wanted on unrelated warrants. When they arrived, the spotted Shelly Meade, 41, running into a bathroom, where she attempted to flush a white powder down the toilet. Police then searched her bedroom, where they found a bag of heroin, along with scales and plastic bags.
She was arrested and charged with complicity to heroin trafficking and trafficking within 1,000 feet of a school.
A grand jury indicted her on those same charges and added a count of first-degree persistent felony offender, meaning she now faces between 10 and 20 years in prison, if convicted.
