Stein Goes for Two to Win in Overtime … Again

It feels like Deja Vu around the Kentucky football program as Will Stein and the Kentucky Wildcats defeat Lane Kiffin and the LSU Tigers in overtime, by a score of 35-34.

With his fifth win of the season, Will Stein is off to the best start by a head coach in program history, surpassing Bear Bryant’s 4-2 record from the 1946 season.

A touchdown by CJ Baxter, followed by a two-point conversion by quarterback Kenny Minchey, pushes the Wildcats past Lane Kiffin’s LSU Tigers, 35-34, in overtime for the second week in a row.

Minchey throws for 246 yards, while Baxter rushes for 123 yards and two touchdowns in the biggest win of Stein’s short career.

The lead changed hands eight times. After two missed field goals with less than five minutes remaining, Kentucky’s kicker made the one that mattered, tying the game at 27 with 12 seconds remaining to send it to overtime.

The Wildcats travel to Oklahoma next Saturday to face the Sooners, who earlier today knocked off the No. 1 Texas Longhorns, 27-24.
