COAL RUN VILLAGE, Ky. — The mayor of Coal Run Village has teamed up with PETA to offer a reward for help finding a woman who abandoned puppies at a shopping center. On Monday, EKB News reported police in Coal Run Village received a tip that a female in a black Jeep Cherokee set out two puppies in the Dialysis Clinic parking lot on Weddington Branch Road. She allegedly ran over one of the puppies as she drove away from the scene. The Coal Run Village Police Department is investigating the incident but has yet to identify the driver. Mayor Andrew H. Scott and PETA are now offering a $5,000 reward for information leading to the arrest and conviction of the person or persons responsible for the crime. A witness took the puppies to a veterinarian treatment. They reportedly both suffer from skin infections and hair loss but are in stable condition.
