“It’s youth working with other youths to try to deter violence and the best people to deal with it is their peers.”

PRESTONSBURG, KY.-With school shootings and bullying being in the media as much as they are the words anti-violence and students have not been used together as of late. However, they were used this evening as an anti-violence candle light vigil called Promote Peace in Our Community was held in Prestonsburg by students from the Carl D. Perkins Job Corp Centers Youth to Youth Group. City of Prestonsburg Mayor Les Stapleton says the City of Prestonsburg welcomes and encourages much needed events like these.

“It’s youth working with other youths to try to deter violence. We have all seen it on the internet, TV and everywhere else. We have to face up that it is a problem and start dealing with it and the best people to deal with it is their peers. The people that is right there with them. I think it is an outstanding program and the city of Prestonsburg including myself personally is real happy to be a part of it.”
