The former owner of a Hazard care facility has pleaded guilty to eight counts of theft. 50-year-old Donna Grigsby entered a guilty plea to the misdemeanor charges earlier this week. In doing so, she admitted keeping 36 hundred dollars in guardianship funds intended for residents of Mountain Serenity, which was a Medicaid-funded home serving the elderly and disabled. As part of her plea deal, she will serve no jail time. She has already reimbursed the state for the stolen money. She will also be required to pay a 500-dollar fine and reimburse the state for 500 dollars in investigative costs. The Attorney General’s Office of Medicaid Fraud and Abuse prosecuted and investigated the case, with assistance from the Cabinet for Health and Family Services, Department for Community Based Services.
