PIKEVILLE, Ky. –  At a recent Pikeville City Commission meeting, an agreement was finalized with the Pikeville Area Family YMCA to construct a new public swimming pool.  Last year, the city filled in the pool near Pikeville High School that had been used for more than 40 years, saying recurring repairs and expenses made it no longer feasible to operate. And, after many discussions with the YMCA, an agreement has been reached to build a new one.  Pikeville City Manager Philip Elswick says in the agreement, the YMCA has until Memorial Day of 2020 to complete construction and open the pool.
