Prestonsburg, Ky.–It happened Thursday afternoon on South Lake Drive as officers with the Prestonsburg City Police Department witnessed a white Volkswagen Jetta; driven by 40-year old Amber Lynn Cox of Prestonsburg, cross the center line and side swipe another vehicle in front of the Prestonsburg City Utilities office.
According to the arrest citation Cox then fled the scene at a high rate of speed.
The vehicle was quickly pulled over and Cox was given a field sobriety test, which she failed
She allegedly told police she had taken Klonopin along with her other prescribed medication.
Cox’s infant son was also found in the vehicle.
She was arrested and charged with DUI, 2nd degree wanton endangerment and leaving the scene of an accident.
