Pikeville, KY — A third person has now been arrested in connection to an alleged child abuse case in Pikeville. 33-year-old Jerry Maynard has been charged with Wanton Endangerment 1st degree and Criminal Abuse 1st degree of a child 12 years of age or under. Jerry Maynard’s arrest follows the arrests of 25-year-old Kylene Anderson and 26-year-old Betty Maynard after a 2-year-old child was discovered to have been severely physically abused. The child had bruises on her face, arms, legs and buttocks. The child was very hungry and when taken into protective custody ate so fast the child threw up. According to the child’s mother, Kylene Anderson, the adults in the household spank the child everyday hitting her on the buttocks with a wooden paddle and slapping the child in the face with their hands. Anderson and Betty Maynard both were charged earlier this month with Criminal Abuse 1st degree of a child 12 years of age or younger.
