VANSANT, Va. — A Buchanan County man has been arrested, after another man was stabbed Sunday afternoon.
Deputies with the Buchanan County Sheriff’s Office responded to a report of a fight on Deer Trail Road at Vansant. When they arrived, they found Robert Bruce Jones II, 43, the victim of life-threatening injuries caused by a sharp instrument.
Following an investigation, deputies arrested Whitney Jay Owens, 36, of Vansant. Owens has been charged with maliciously stabbing with in intent to maim, disfigure, disable or kill. That charge is a Class 2 felony, punishable by a prison sentence of 20 years to life.
Owens is currently being held on an $8,000 bond.
The Buchanan County Sheriff’s Office is continuing to investigate the case, with assistance from Virginia State Police and the Buchanan County Commonwealth’s Attorney.
