Chase leads to felony charges

Martin County, WV: A West Virginia man wanted only for questioning now faces several felony charges. Kentucky State Police contacted the Martin County Sheriff’s Department asking them to be on the lookout for a red 2006 Chevy Cruise that was possibly stolen. Martin County K-9 handler, Billy Patrick, spotted he vehicle attempted to stop it and that is when the vehicle sped away.

“He went around the curve at Collins creek on the wrong side of the road and there was a school bus there. He missed it by inches, and when I caught up to him he took off again and run some other vehicles off the road. He got right at the Kermit Bridge, there was two Mingo County deputies. He went around them almost striking them and impacted the bridge about seventy miles per hour. He jumped out of the vehicle, and took off running across the Kermit Bridge, I got out, got my K-9 Grimm out. I told him to stop again or I’d release the dog, and he stopped then and gave up and walked back to us”

25-year-old Jordan Stampered of Crum WV, now faces several charges of Wanton endangerment, fleeing and evading police, and several traffic related violations. The investigation into the alleged stolen vehicle is continuing.
