PIKEVILLE, Ky. — A law enforcement officer owned and operated company — Barbells and Badges — has designed a memorial T-shirt in honor of Pikeville Police Officer Scotty Hamilton.
Officer Hamilton was shot and killed in the line of duty in March. He served with the Pikeville Police Department for 12 years.
Barbells and Badges is one of the top fitness motivators on Instagram for first responders, their families and supporters.
The company is working directly with Chief Chris Edmonds. All proceeds will be given to Hamilton’s wife and daughter — Chelsi and Brynlee Hamilton.
Pikeville Emergency Management Director Paul Maynard says the police department is honored that the support is reaching outside of the region.
“The public, especially here locally, really came together during this time,” said Maynard. “Now, you’re starting to see it’s even spreading outside of Pikeville. Some people think that law enforcement doesn’t have the backing, but this just goes to prove that they do. There’s people out there that really care. For us, here at the Pikeville Police Department and the 911 Center, it really means a lot to us that this company would do this to honor Scotty.”
