Athletics in Letcher and Knott counties remain on hold because of COVID restrictions.
The latest incidence map shows Letcher’s numbers as 31.8 and Knott at 26.1. They are two of 24 counties across the state in the red zone.
Red indicates critical levels with at least 25 cases per 100,000 people.
Pike, Floyd, Martin, Magoffin, Johnson, and Lawrence counties are all under gold status, which is accelerated cases numbering from 10-25 per 100,000.
Betsy Layne athletics remains on hold following COVID cases. It is not known at this time when games will continue. Also, Floyd Central High School halted extra and co-curricular activities for Tuesday. The board of education is monitoring the situation and will decide soon on the remainder of the week after a staff member there tested positive.
