Nashville, TN — The 77th running of the CSX Santa Train will feature a Grand Ole Opry star. Country Singer and songwriter Marty Stuart will be this years’ featured guest. The Santa Train will depart from the Shelbiana Rail Yard in Pike County, Kentucky Saturday morning on November 23rd and will make its annual trip to Elkhorn City, Haysi, Virginia and on down the line to Tri-Cities. The train makes 12 stops along the way. Stuart’s friend and Kentucky native Ricky Skaggs rode the Santa Train a few years ago and told Stuart about. Stuart said he knew immediately that he wanted to be involved. According to Stuart, “Country Music and trains go hand in hand, and the Santa Train bears further witness to that. It is such an honor to ride the rails with CSX this year and I promise you, nobody will be happier than me on the 23rd.” In addition to Stuart, Santa Claus and event sponsors CSX, Appalachian Power, Food City, Kingsport Chamber of Commerce and Soles4Souls will also be part of the 110-mile journey.
