Human remains discovered in Knott County

AMBURGEY, Ky. — Kentucky State Police are investigating after human remains were discovered Monday morning in Knott County.

Troopers, along with volunteer search-and-rescue personnel and K-9 teams from Indiana K-9 United, were searching a wooded area off Big Branch Road at Amburgey when the remains were found shortly before 10 a.m.

The Knott County Coroner pronounced the individual dead at the scene.

The remains have been sent to the Kentucky Medical Examiner’s Office in Frankfort for an autopsy and positive identification.

The investigation remains ongoing and is being led by Kentucky State Police Det. Nathan Roark.
