Deputies investigate suspicious car, make drug arrests

PAINTSVILLE, Ky. — Deputies checking out a suspicious vehicle walked away with a pair of drug arrests early this morning.

Johnson County Sheriff’s Deputies Jerry Wiley and Lauren O’Bryan were patrolling along Little Mine Fork at Hargis around 5 a.m., when they spotted a vehicle parked along an old logging road. The officers pulled alongside the vehicle and began speaking with the driver, who they immediately noticed had slurred speech.

After further investigation, they discovered multiple sandwich bags containing a substance believed to be meth, as well as a glass pipe and two Suboxone tablets.

Deputies arrested the driver, Everett Haney, 56, of Prestonsburg, and charged him with possession of meth, tampering with physical evidence, possession of drug paraphernalia and public intoxication.

They also arrested his passenger, Natasha Joseph, 29, of Oil Springs. She is charged with possession of meth and suboxone, and public intoxication.

Both were lodged in the Big Sandy Regional Detention Center.
