An alleged knifepoint robbery has landed an Elkhorn City man in jail.
According to court documents, 23-year-old Austin Slone, of West Elkhorn Street, was arrested the day after he allegedly robbed two people at knifepoint at the Elwood Heights Apartments in Elkhorn City Saturday night. Court documents said the investigation into the robbery led Elkhorn City Police to Slone’s location, where he was allegedly overheard by police through a partially-opened door detailing the robbery to two people.
Slone, court documents said, denied having any involvement in the robbery. The two people to whom Slone allegedly detailed the robbery provided police with written statements about Slone’s comments, court documents said, and they cooperated with the investigation.
Slone was arrested and charged with first-degree robbery, and he pleaded not guilty to the charge Monday in Pike District Court.
Slone remains lodged in the Pike County Detention Center on a $20,000 cash bond. According to court documents, he was listed by Pike District Judge Kelsey Friend Jr. as a danger to the community.
