Doctor Arrested On Federal Criminal Complaint

Wise County, VA — A Norton, Virginia doctor was arrested Wednesday and charged in a federal criminal complaint with obtaining schedule II and schedule IV controlled substances by fraud or misrepresentation, failing to maintain proper records for schedule II and schedule IV controlled substances and making false statements, that according to United States Attorney Thomas T. Cullen and Virginia Attorney General Mark Herring. 61-year-old Raymond Michael Moore of Wise, Virginia is charged with fraud, forgery, making false statements, delivered or shipped and received controlled substances without maintaining records. According to documents filed with the court, beginning in July 2016 and continuing to January 2019 Moore intentionally and without authority acquired and possessed hydrocodone tablets, oxycodone tablets, fentanyl transdermal system, Lorazepam tablets, among others. Search warrants were executed at his home where most of the items were found. Items were also found in his medical office. A criminal complaint is only a charge and not evidence of guilt.
