LOUISVILLE, Ky. — Kentucky Kingdom and its water park, Hurricane Bay, now have a new operator.
Herschend Entertainment — which owns attractions such as Dollywood, the Newport Aquarium and the Tennessee Aquarium, as well as the Harlem Globetrotters — was introduced Tuesday as the new majority partner and operator of the Louisville theme park.
Herschend executives say the company plans to build Kentucky Kingdom’s appeal to families, expand the park’s season, and host numerous family-friendly festivals and events.
Kentucky Kingdom is currently hiring 1,200 employees for its upcoming season, with opening day slated for May 8.
