Pikeville, Ky.–The H2O Point Series award ceremony was held at the Pikeville City Commission Meeting this evening. Race officials say the Drag Racing Series not only benefits the local economy, but this year has benefited the City of Pikeville First Responders as well.
“Economically speaking it’s great because I don’t know if you’ve noticed but anytime we have a drag race on a Friday or Saturday night town is actually very busy. Everybody comes and eats McDonalds, Subway, and Double Kwik so everybody sees the benefit from our races. It’s why we have a lot of local businesses in town stay open now, and they’re staying open later. The drag racing community got together and decided they wanted to have a drag race for the Shop with a First Responders and they called it Racing for the Kids. They all got together and got some donations and decided to have a race and picked our race track here at the Wrightway Raceway because most of those guys race throughout the year here. They decided to have the race here and that check was donated to Shop with a first Responder in the tune of $3,410.”
