The Mingo County Health Department has confirmed the county’s first case of the novel coronavirus.
In a statement on its Facebook page, the department says an elderly male has tested positive for COVID-19. The patient has underlying health conditions, as well, the statement says.
No other information was released about the patient.
According to the statement, the health department confirmed the case on Saturday. The health department is currently working to notify individuals who may have come into contact with the patient. Those coming into close contact will be asked to quarantine themselves.
Anyone testing positive for the novel coronavirus will be placed into isolation, the statement says. The Mingo County Health Department is advising the public to continue social distancing practices.
