Officials with the US Army Corps of Engineers at Fishtrap Lake recently got additional “fire power” to battle the debris that gathers on the lake and around the dam. The $127,000 dollar Air Curtain Burner was purchased with federal funds appropriated by Congress to the Corps of Engineers, and is now in operation. Corps officials say the new burner will eliminate having to spend weeks burning a huge pile of driftwood. Now, the driftwood and natural debris can be loaded into the air curtain burner as it is brought off the lake, eliminating the need to pile it up for long periods of time.
