Las Vegas, NV.–One day after a gunman opened fire at the 91 Harvest Country Music Festival in Las Vegas, leaving 59 people dead and 527 injured, the world is seeing a community come together during this tragic time.
Floyd County native, Hannah Noelle Fitzpatrick, who lives minutes from the scene of the shooting, spoke with EKB News today about the atmosphere in the community.
“The atmosphere is very somber but everyone wants to do nothing but help and it’s such a cool heartwarming thing to see. The lines at the blood bank are just monstrous; they have to turn people away. I just got an update and they need O negative blood so they’re only taking that right now, so all hands on deck has really been shown through all this. People who ran from the concert ran across the road and were hit by cars and that’s where some of the injuries came from as well because they were trying to get away. Cars were stopping and giving people rides, just strangers helping strangers. It was just an intense moment, because it was just utter chaos. “
The alleged gunman, 64-year old Stephen Paddock, was found dead in his hotel room where at least 17 firearms, including a handgun, were found.
