GRETHEL, Ky. – Last week, the results of the latest statewide achievement exams were released for elementary, middle and high schools, and several eastern Kentucky schools performed well. However, one school in Floyd County is getting attention from education professionals across the state. John M Stumbo Elementary and Middle Schools ranked number 2 and 3 in the state, respectively. 10 years ago, they both ranked in the bottom five out of more than 700 schools. Shannon Deskins visited with school officials and brings us their story.
