Floyd jail employee positive for COVID-19

An employee at the Floyd County Jail has tested positive for COVID-19.

The Floyd County Fiscal Court announced Thursday that an employee at the county’s jail has tested positive for the novel coronavirus. The court says the employee is asymptomatic and is recovering at home.

The court says jail staff members and inmates are being closely monitored and “all necessary cleaning and safety precautions are being taken.”

“As always, we will continue to update the public with the most current information as it becomes available,” the court says. “Our thoughts and prayers go out to the employee and their family, as well as the other confirmed cases we’ve had in Floyd County.”
