PRESTONSBURG, Ky. — Drago and Lita — the Floyd County Sheriff’s Office’s police dogs — have already proved useful in helping the department locate evidence for drug cases.
Now they are learning new skills.
The two dogs and their deputy handlers recently completed a week of training with the North American Police Work Dog Association in Florida. There, they trained in narcotics, apprehension, building search, and tracking.
Afterwards, they competed against hundreds of dog and deputy teams from across the country. And Drago finished in second place.
Sheriff John Hunt says he is proud of Drago and Lita, and thankful for the many hours of work their handlers put in with them.
