PIKEVILLE, Ky. — A former state representative already serving time for a bribery case was back in federal court in Pikeville today for sentencing in an identity theft case.

Wendell Keith Hall, 58, previously admitted in February to sending falsified insurance documents on behalf of one of his companies, to another company he was doing business with. He also admitted sending that information while posing as one of his business partners.
In court today, U.S. District Judge Karen Caldwell sentenced him to two years. That time will be in addition to the seven-year sentence he is currently serving, after being convicted in 2015 of bribing a mine inspector to overlook violations at his mines, bringing his total sentence now to nine years.
Hall’s attorney, Bill Slone, asked the court if Hall could serve his sentence in the Pike County Detention Center or at U.S. Penitentiary Big Sandy, in Martin County. Judge Caldwell said that decision is up to the Bureau of Prisons, but she would include a recommendation that he be allowed to serve at Big Sandy.
