Two men pleaded guilty this week in a robbery case in Pike County.
28-year-old Justin Smith, of Powells Creek, and 24-year-old Dalton Johnson, of Collins Highway near Pikeville, pleaded guilty this week to charges related to a convenience store robbery in Pike County.
Pike County Commonwealth’s Attorney Rick Bartley said Justin Smith carried a knife when he and Dalton Johnson robbed a convenience store late last year, stealing, among other items, lottery tickets. Bartley said the men ordered a clerk into a back room during the incident.
The men were arrested after they attempted to cash the stolen lottery tickets and were later indicted on first-degree robbery charges.
Earlier this week, Smith and Johnson entered plea agreements which saw them plead guilty to amended charges of second-degree robbery. Smith also pleaded guilty to a tampering with physical evidence charge
As part of their plea agreements, Justin Smith is facing a 15-year prison sentence, while Dalton Johnson could serve 10 years in prison.
Kaylee Darmon, who was also allegedly involved in the robbery, saw her portion of the case continued after she was indicted recently on additional, unrelated charges.
Smith and Johnson will be sentenced at a later date.
