PIKEVILLE, Ky. — A gun violence vigil will be held Saturday in Pikeville.
Members of Progress Pike are hosting the vigil to support the survivors of the Parkland School shooting in Florida and to remember others who have lost their lives to gun violence around the country.
More than 38,000 Americans are killed by gun violence each year. Members are hoping the vigil in Pikeville and hundreds of other locations nationwide will unite efforts to work towards a safe and just community for everyone.
Those at the event will be encouraged to share their stories and let people know why they are attending the vigil.
The Gun Violence Vigil will be hosted Saturday evening at 7 in the Pikeville City Park.
