Due to a collaboration from Floyd County Sheriff John Hunt and LifeGuard Medical Service’s Director of Operations Bert Absher, Floyd County Deputy Sheriffs will now be equipped with AEDs or automated external defibrillators. According to Absher, these defibrillators are very simple to use and provide voice-automation to assist users. John Hunt says that when they arrive on-scene to a call that may require medical attention, his deputies will be able to start medical treatment which in turn could save many lives. Hunt also mentions that when he started, most officers carried a gun, flashlight, and a radio, but now he is extremely happy with how far police forces have advanced in the medical field and glad that he can help his community.
