Helmet-cam footage shows damage caused by Jenkins house fire

A fire Monday destroyed a residence at Wrights Hollow in Jenkins.

Jenkins Mayor Todd DePriest told EKB News that the residents were home at the time the fire broke out, but were able to escape without injury.

Helmet cam footage provided courtesy of the Jenkins Fire Department showed some of the extensive damage the residence sustained in the fire, to which firefighters from Jenkins, Neon and Mayking were called to respond.

In Monday’s Jenkins City Council meeting, DePriest complimented all those who responded to the call, saying they worked to protect neighboring structures, and also to protect firefighters from the effects of the extreme heat at the scene.
