HIGH SCHOOL FOOLBALL: CovCath pulls away, beats Belfry in PCB matchup

Class 5A powerhouse Covington Catholic shut down Belfry’s ground attack for much of the game, beating the Pirates, 42-13, in the Pike County Bowl matchup played at Haywood Stadium on Friday night.

Quarterback Isaac Dixon was held to a career-low 60 yards on 16 carries, rushing for one touchdown, and passed for another, as Belfry dropped to 0-2. He passed for 53 yards.

Receiver Caden Woolum hauled in a 37-yard touchdown pass and running back Dre Young finished with 87 yards on 11 rushes.

Belfry will host undefeated Class 2A power Lexington Christian on Friday.
