HIGH SCHOOL FOOTBALL: Dillon, JC defense too much for Bell County

Defending Class 4A state champion Johnson Central journeyed to Log Mountain for a showdown with Class 3A state-runner-up Bell County on Friday night.

Running back Dylan Preston rushed 18 times for 147 yards and four touchdowns to lead the Golden Eagles to a 36-0 victory over the Bobcats. He hauled in a nine-yard pass from quarterback Grant Rice for his fifth score.

Running back Bladen Sexton ran for 71 yards on nine rushes. The Golden Eagles rushed for 328 yards as a team.

Johnson Central’s defense held Bell County to just 44 total yards. Cameron Wright had a fumble recovery and Mason LeMaster had seven tackles, including three for losses.

The Golden Eagles will play at Simon Kenton (1-0) on Sept. 25.
