HIGH SCHOOL FOOTBALL: Jaguars rally late to knock off Bulldogs

Floyd Central scored three touchdowns in a five-minute span late in the second half to knock off Hazard, 24-21, in the season opener played at Perry Central on Saturday night.

Quarterback Caleb Hager race 21 yards with 7 minutes, 2 seconds left to play to cap the come-from-behind win over the Bulldogs. Hager rushed 14 times for 53 yards and three touchdowns and passed for 97 yards and another score.

Receiver Brant Potter had two catches for 89 yards, one of those was a 78-yard score with under 10 minutes left in the game.

Running back Jordan Akers carried 12 times for 58 yards. His interception set up Hager’s game-winning run.

Hazard quarterback Garrett Miller passed for 240 yards and two touchdowns and Tyson Turner rushed six times for 101 yards and one score. He hauled in two passes for 86 yards and a touchdown.

The Jaguars will visit Prestonsburg (0-1) on Sept. 18. Kickoff is set for 7:30 p.m.
