HIGH SCHOOL FOOTBALL: Miners score fourth quarter TD to beat Rebels

Mingo Central quarterback Daylin Goad tossed an 18-yard touchdown pass to Isa Scales on fourth down to lift the Miners to a thrilling 28-22 win over Tolsia at Wilt Salmons Field on Friday night.

It was the Miners first road win over the Rebels since 2013.

The Miners, now 1-2, led 22-6 at halftime before the Rebels rallied to tie the game at 22-all after three quarters.

Running back Zion Martin ran for 73 yards and one score while Goad added 77 and a rushing touchdown. Scales finished with 68 yards on the ground and caught three passes for 41 yards.

Mingo Central is tentatively scheduled to host Shady Spring (2-2) on Oct. 16. Kickoff at Miner Stadium is set for 7pm.
