HIGH SCHOOL: Gov. Justice orders orange county players, coaches to be tested

West Virginia Gov. Jim Justice said every athlete, coaching staff, band member and other others affiliated with fall sports will be test for coronavirus if their county is in the orange.

Logan, Fayette, and Kanawha counties currently fall under those conditions.

He said if everyone tests negative they will be eligible to play starting this Friday night.

Mingo County, which is currently in the yellow, is cleared for Tug Valley to open at Sherman.

However, a COVID-19 positive case at Mingo Central has forced officials to cancel the Miners game at Wyoming East. Miners head coach Josh Sammons confirmed Monday afternoon the game would not be play.

Chapmanville, Logan, and Man are just now opening practice. Those three schools can begin play on Sept. 18, pending no COVID-19 outbreaks.
