HIGH SCHOOL SOCCER: P’burg boys, girls win season openers; Pikeville, JC tie

Regional power Prestonsburg opened its season with an 11-1 win over Pikeville in a home match played on Tuesday.

Dylan Moore had a big night with four goals and six assists while Matt Burchett added two goals and four assists. Isaiah Collins finished with four goals and Bryan Amador had one.

Goalkeeper Ryan Rankin did not allow a goal. Jon Collins gave up one as Noah Howie scored for the Panthers.

Lawrence County’s Andrew Vinson scored in the first minute of play and the Bulldogs went on to beat Paintsville, 10-0, in a home match played in Louisa on Tuesday night.

Goalkeeper Trenton Maynard recorded the shutout.

Blake Maynard finished with five goals and Luke Johnson scored three. Michael Preston added one.

Prestonsburg standout Anna Burchett had a record performance in scoring eight goals and assisting on another as the Lady Blackcats opened the season with a 10-0 victory over the Belfry Lady Pirates at StoneCrest Soccer Complex on Tuesday night.

Chloe Collins added one goal and four assists while Kadynce Hackworth scored one goal and Madison Hicks had an assist.

Goalkeeper Crystal Allen recorded the shutout.

Paintsville goalkeeper Chelsea Reynolds had 10 saves and held Lawrence County to just a single goal as the Lady Tigers earned a hard-fought 2-1 victory in a home match played on Tuesday night.

Leandra Curnutte and Chloe Fleming scored one goal each and Ava Hyden added an assist.

Lawrence County’s goal came when Brylee Blair scored off an assist by Alyssa Moore.

Goalkeeper Kaison Ward finished with eight saves.

Pikeville standout Emma Ratliff scored a pair of goals to help the Lady Panthers earn a 2-2 tie with Johnson Central in the season opener played at Bob Amos Soccer Complex on Tuesday night.

Larren Collins held the Lady Eagles to two goals and was solid between the pipes.
