HIGH SCHOOL VOLLEYBALL: Floyd Central, Paintsville reach title match

The 15th Region volleyball tournament championship match is set for Johnson Central High School tonight following semifinal-round play on Wednesday.

Floyd Central took a close second set from Belfry and the Lady Jaguars went on for a 3-0 sweep, winning 25-12, 27-25 and 25-15.

Jaydn Hall finished with 21 kills and 15 digs while Amelia Wallace totaled 38 assists and nine digs. Maddy Wade had 16 digs and Skylar Paige added 11.

Allyson Stumbo tallied five kills, four blocks and nine digs. McKinnley Martin tallied six kills and eight digs.

The Lady Pirates season ends at 22-6.

Floyd Central, now 22-6, and winners of nine straight, will face defending champion Paintsville, after the Lady Tigers eliminated Pikeville, 3-1. Sets were 25-19, 25-11, 26-28 and 25-22.

The Lady Tigers, now 32-7, were led by Kara Ward with 19 kills, two blocks, 13 digs and three aces. Hailey Little followed with 13 kills, four blocks and 14 digs.

Blair Ratliff totaled 18 kills and six blocks while Kynzi Slone finished with four blocks, 50 assists, 11 digs and six aces. Mattie Ratliff had 17 digs.

The Lady Panthers finish the year at 29-10.

The championship match begins at 7.

Defending champion Paintsville took control early on and cruised to a 3-0 win over Pike County Central Tuesday night.

Hailey Little totaled 11 kills, nine digs and two aces in the 25-10, 25-13 and 25-15 win. Kara Ward had 14 kills and four digs while Blair Ratliff added 12 kills and four kills.

Kynzi Slone tallied 39 assists and four digs.

Floyd Central overcame a one-set deficit to eliminate East Ridge, 3-1, in a match played on Monday night.

Jaydn Hall tallied 27 kills, 17 digs and two aces in the 21-25, 25-19, 25-22 and 25-15 win.

Allyson Stumbo had 11 kills, two blocks, 12 digs and four aces while Amelia Wallace totaled six digs, two blocks, 49 assists and five digs. Maddy Wade added 11 digs and McKinnley Martin finished with nine,

Kierstin Coleman led the Lady Warriors with seven kills and 11 digs. Courtlin Phillips tallied 23 digs and Sarah Woods had 29 assists and 15 digs.
