PIKEVILLE, Ky. — The Hillbilly Days Festival in downtown Pikeville is a memorable time for many who attend.
This year’s festival, however, will be remembered forever by one particular couple who decided to embrace the festivities and take their engagement pictures right in the midst of the hoopla.
While attending a bridal show in eastern Kentucky, Kristen Curtis and Kasey Casebolt won a free engagement session. After the photographer met the couple, she fell in love with them and knew they had to have unique pictures.
“I knew when they instantly came over to my booth, I’m like, ‘Oh my gosh, I love these people. We’re gonna be great friends,'” said Moments of the Heart photographer Deneisha Osborne.
She says, the session was a marriage of both the couple’s style and her own.
“I mentioned the carnival idea and then [Curtis] mentioned turning it into a vintage idea,” Osborne added. “It was really a collaboration together.”
“Kasey and I both love everything vintage,” said Curtis. “Anything retro, we love Rockavella music and everything. As soon as we mentioned that to Deneisha she’s like, ‘I’ve got it. We’ve got it. We can do this.'”
The couple got engaged at Disney World. Curtis is from Paintsville and Casebolt is from Pikeville. They say as crowded as the carnival was during their session, everyone was supportive.
“It just took me by storm, I guess,” added Curtis. “There were people watching and they were so into it. Everyone made us feel so welcome.”
The couple plans to marry in November.
