Survivor star attends Hillbilly Days Festival

PIKEVILLE, Ky. — Survivor: Ghost Island contestant and Phelps native Donathan Hurley visited the 42nd annual Hillbilly Days Festival Thursday in downtown Pikeville.

While at the festival, Hurley visited fans and made a stop at the East Kentucky Broadcasting booth. He even made an appearance on EKB’s Day Break show.

The 26-year-old contestant is seeking to claim the top-prize on the reality-show competition. So far, he is still a contender. While he can’t talk about or spoil any of the upcoming shows, he can talk about everything that has happened up until this point. His goal was the make it to the merge and he seems to be the fan favorite.

He told EKB News his experience so far has been both exciting and mind-boggling.

“I’m so overwhelmingly excited that I’m here,” said Hurley. “Being able to take pictures and meet people that are, you know, from my hometown of Phelps. Everybody is really supportive. Everybody is really excited to see me on the show and still surviving on Survivor.

“It’s such a big dream of mine to be able to play the game, so, this is just the reward. It’s just being able to just enjoy being a Survivor player.”
