HISTORY MADE IN JENKINS

History was made in Jenkins Tuesday night as the Cavaliers took the field for the first soccer game in school history, and made it one to remember with a 3-0 win over Buckhorn at home.

The atmosphere was electric, and head coach Ethen Cummings said the night went beyond the scoreboard.

“In our very first season with a soccer program, this victory was more than just a win — it was history in the making,” Cummings said. “The excitement on the field was matched only by the pride in the stands, as our kids and community came together to celebrate something truly special,” said Cummings.

With the victory, Jenkins is officially undefeated in program history and has eight more games scheduled this season. The Cavaliers will travel to Jackson City on Sept. 11, then return home to host Pike Central on Sept. 15 and Wolfe County on Sept. 16. Other key dates include Shelby Valley (Sept. 17 and Sept. 25), Harlan County (Sept. 23), Buckhorn (Sept. 27) and Letcher Central (Sept. 29).
