HS VOLLEYBALL ROUNDUP: Belfry, Paintsville, Pikeville score big wins

Belfry was forced to a fifth and deciding set with East Ridge as the Lady Pirates regrouped to earn a hard-fought 3-2 win in a match played on Tuesday night.

Clara McNamee had 12 kills, four blocks, seven digs and three serving aces in the 25-19, 25-19, 25-27, 16-25 and 15-7 win.

Emma Harris collected six kills, 27 assists, 11 digs and five aces while Cameron Childers had five kills, 13 digs and two aces. Summer Varney earned 19 digs and Hannah Fite added 22. Tori Bond had 11 digs and three aces. Hannah Hatfield finished with six kills and three blocks.

Kierstin Coleman totaled 16 kills, five digs and two aces in a losing effort for the Lady Warriors. Sarah Woods added two kills, one block, 32 assists, nine digs and one ace. Courtlin Phillips finished with 17 digs and five aces. Hanna Blackburn 11 kills, two blocks and four aces.

Paintsville was dominate from the outset in knocking off Martin County, 3-0, in a match played on Tuesday night.

Kara Ward had 12 kills, six digs and two aces in the 25-11, 25-22 and 25-16 win. Hadley Hardin added 11 kills, one block and eight digs. Hailey Little finished with 12 kills, one block and two digs.

Bella Blackburn totaled 36 assists, four digs and eight serving aces. Blair Ratliff had 10 kills and Mattie Ratliff collected eight digs.

Lauren Horn had five kills and one dig in the loss. Alyssa McCoy finished with two kills, seven assists and 11 digs. Jenna Grayson added 10 digs.

Pikeville bounced back from its All “A” Classic loss to Ballard Memorial to beat Belfry, 3-0, in a match played T.W. Oliver Memorial Gymnasium on Monday night.

Clara McNamee had four kills, five blocks and four digs in the 11-25, 7-25 and 17-25 loss. Emma Harris had 10 assists and 10 digs while Hannah Fite totaled 10 digs. Taylor Adkins had five kills and four digs.

Betsy Layne took a two-set lead against Martin County and went on to score a 3-1 win in a match played on Monday night.

Katie Kidd was outstanding with 13 kills, three blocks, 12 digs and five serving aces in the 25-16, 25-19, 22-25 and 25-18 win. Lindsey Watkins totaled four kills, 39 assists, 20 digs and two aces while Alyndra Meade finished with 15 kills, three blocks and 10 digs.

Emily Johnson managed seven kills, 15 digs and four aces while Madi Meade had 32 digs and three aces.

Alyssa McCoy finished with six kills, 25 assists and 11 digs in the loss for the Lady Cardinals. Lauren Horn totaled 10 kills, three blocks and seven digs while Allicen Grayson had five kills and 22 digs. Jenna Grayson added 22 digs.

Prestonsburg used a balanced attack to score a 3-0 victory over Phelps in a match played at the McCoy Athletic Center on Monday night.

Kennedy Rose had 11 kills, two assists and three digs in the 25-16, 25-18 and 25-19 win. Molly Boyd finished with nine kills, seven assists, 10 digs and two serving aces. Erin Akers had 19 assists, five digs and seven aces. Aaliyah Jarrell finished with five kills and eight digs.

LaRanda Francis led Phelps with nine kills, six blocks and one ace. Amelia Casey added six kills and six blocks.

Pikeville saw its 16-match winning streak come to an end as Ballard Memorial scored a 3-0 win over the Lady Panthers in the All “A” Classic Elite Eight matchup at McBrayer Arena on Saturday.

The Lady Panthers, now 16-1, were led by Riley Tavis who had five kills, six blocks, 22 assists, 11 digs and two aces in the 23-25, 18-25 and 16-25 loss.

Kaylee Wells finished with eight kills, four blocks and 14 digs while Emily Gearhart had 19 digs. McKinlee Potter added seven kills, three blocks and five digs. Hannah Akers totaled five kills and four blocks. Chloe Wright had seven kills and five blocks.

Phelps rallied from a one-set deficit to beat Belfry, 3-2, in a match played on Thursday night.

LaRanda Francis, Kacie Dotson and Amelia Casey had 10 kills each in the 15-25, 25-18, 17-25, 25-14 and 15-12 win. Francis totaled 11 blocks while Casey had eight.

Alyssa Wolford finished with 13 digs while Jaycie Stanley and Dotson followed with 12 and Madison Prater had 10.

Clara McNamee totaled 13 kills, 16 digs and six serving aces in the loss. Cameron Childers had seven kills and 21 digs. Emma Harris finished with 28 assists and 13 digs while Hannah Fite totaled 33 digs.

Alyndra Meade had nine kills, two blocks and three digs in the 26-24, 25-20 and 25-17. Inetta Hamilton six kills, nine digs and six aces. Madi Meade had 25 digs and two aces. Akira Keathley totaled eight kills and six blocks. .Lauryn Watkins had 13 digs.

Pikeville and Floyd County Central battled in a pair of close sets to open their match and the Lady Panthers took charge in the third to score a 3-0 win on Thursday night.

Kaylee Wells finished with 16 kills, four blocks and 10 digs in the 25-23, 25-20 and 25-14 win. Riley Tavis totaled five kills, five blocks, 31 assists and nine digs.

McKinlee Potter had 10 kills, three blocks and three digs and Emily Gearheart totaled 24 digs.

Jadyn Hall had 14 kills and eight digs in the loss for the Lady Jaguars. Caley Howard added 12 kills, two blocks and three serving aces. Amelia Wallace totaled two blocks, 32 assists and three digs while Alivia Stumbo added 21 digs.

Prestonsburg pulled away from Johnson Central in the third set and went on to earn a 3-1 win in a match played on Thursday night.

Molly Boyd finished with 11 kills, 10 assists, 12 digs and four aces in the 25-20, 17-25, 25-9 and 25-22 win. Erin Akers followed with three kills, 14 assists, 19 digs and five aces.

Aaliyah Jarrell added four kills, three assists, 15 digs and five aces. Jada Slone had five kills and 16 digs.
