Indiana Man Jailed On Drug Charges

A traffic stop early Monday morning in Pike County ends with an Indiana man in jail.

Before daylight, a Pikeville Police officer stopped a vehicle just off US 23 in Pikeville for traffic violations.

During the stop, the officer noted the driver of the car,  49 year old David Wayne Burris, had slurred speech and glassy red eyes. According to the citation, Burris was unable to complete field sobriety tests and was placed under arrest. When searching the vehicle, officers found a contained which had a bag of a white powdery substance said to be cocaine and a small amount of a white crystal substance believed to be meth.

A pistol was also located in the vehicle, which Burris is not supposed to have due to being a convicted felon.

He was lodged in the Pike County Detention Center on several drug, traffic, and firearm charges.
