Investigation of Mullins School incident ongoing

The Pike County School District is continuing to investigate a situation at Mullins School that occurred earlier this month, and involved Child Protective Services.

Mullins School officials sent out a letter in early February regarding an incident that allegedly happened at the school. According to a letter to Mullins School parents, officials responded to an incident after Child Protective Services officials shared information with the school regarding the incident.

No details were released at the time the letter was sent out to parents, nor have they been since then … but the letter stated that all of the information that could legally be released was contained in the letter.

Pike County Schools Superintendent Reed Adkins said the investigation into the incident is ongoing, but many details have not been released, not even to the school district.

Adkins said with the lack of information available to even school district officials, it’s impossible to determine a timeline on which the investigation will be completed. With that in mind, Adkins asked that parents be patient while the investigation continues.
