Investigation Underway After Laser Light Hits Aircraft

Law enforcement officials are looking for an individual responsible for pointing lasers at passing aircraft.

Around 9pm Monday night, the Johnson County Sheriff’s Office and Johnson County 911 received a report from the Indianapolis Air Traffic Control reporting three commercial aircraft were hit by a green laser light.

The pilots reported the laser originated around 5 miles south of the Big Sandy Regional Airport and may have originated somewhere in the area near Kentucky Route 194 in Floyd County.

Surrounding law enforcement and the F-A-A were notified of the incident.

No injuries were reported.
