Police officers in Jenkins were issued body cameras Wednesday.
The devices hit the street immediately.
The cameras can be mounted in several different ways to an officer’s body using a variety of mounts. The footage the cameras capture once activated can be stored and shared using a cloud-based service through body cam tech provider Intrensic.
Grant funds provided the funding for the new cameras. Officials consider the cameras investment sfor the city rather than an equipment expense, saying they not only could clear an officer accused of wrongdoing, but also clear a suspect encounter by police.
Jenkins currently rosters three police officers. All three were issued body cameras.
