PIKEVILLE, Ky. — Countywide races are on the ballot and Pike County residents are already getting a preview, with one familiar name appearing on the ballot in an unfamiliar place. Kentucky State Senator Ray S. Jones II has filed a letter of intent with the Kentucky Registry of Election Finance stating his intention to run for Pike County Judge Executive. Jones has been elected as State Senator for the 31st District for 17 years. He says, now that he has a family and his children are older, he would like to focus more on the county as a whole. He says at this point his children would not be able to stay here and make a living and that’s discouraging. Jones says Pike County is the hub of eastern Kentucky with the best medical care, banking and education. Jones adds, Pike County has a bright future but the county government needs to work towards job creation and with his background he feels he would be able to bring jobs to the county.
