Kentuckians have received $3.2 billion in stimulus payments

Kentuckians have received more than $3 billion in economic stimulus payments, according to the federal government.

According to the Internal Revenue Service, nearly 1.9 million payments have been made to Kentuckians for a total of $3.28 billion dollars. In Virginia, nearly 3.2 million payments have been made, for a total of nearly $5.46 billion. In West Virginia, more than 784,000 payments have been made, for a total of more than $1.36 billion.

According to a statement from the U.S. Department of Treasury and the IRS, nearly 130 million Americans have received Economic Impact Payments as part of federal economic stimulus efforts in the wake of the coronavirus pandemic in less than five weeks. Those payments total more than $218 billion, and an additional $2.5 billion has also been delivered to U.S. territories and territory residents, the statement said.

According to the statement, the Treasury expects to deliver more than 150 million Economic Impact Payments in total.

The figures listed were as of May 8.
